COLA or "Central Open Licensing Architecture" was released today at Macromedia.com. I had the pleasure of developing COLA with Macromedia over the past 2 months. COLA provides server based licensing to Central applications.&Ted on Twitter - @__ted__

I'm being lazy here:
- There is a PHP only version, correct?
- It works for international users through PayPal, correct?
Thanks.
Best regards,

Burak,
COLA supports PHP and CF. The payment provider is configured for paypal, but is easily extended to support any 3rd party payment system via web service calls and http/https callbacks.
COLA also supports an Admin Panel to allow licenses to be created manually without any financial transaction. This are ideal for using COLA to secure intranet/extranet application and for personalization services.
I am pretty sure you could configure COLA to work with EMETRIX or any 3rd party payment provider in about an hours time.
Cheers,
Ted ;)
I wanted to run this past you Ted. A proposal to extend the scope of the COLA project, or for a new collaboration.
My own Central applications will be listed on the AppFinder soon, however I'm not very confident that this will generate very many sales leads, as Central is still an obscure developers release.
Having collaborated on COLA, I propose that developers should now collaborate on open marketing mechanisms. (COMA?)
I'm considering modifying my own payment system and user account setup to incorporate affiliates/commission tracking. Allow webmasters to earn a commission if they refer people to my Central apps, leading to a purchase.
Something similar could be incorporated into COLA, and there are shared benefits that spring from collaborating on internet marketing.
